Volunteer for the HOI Group

The Sierra Club is the largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. While the National Sierra Club has a paid staff, and the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club has an office and small staff in Chicago, the Heart of Illinois Group is supported solely by the volunteer efforts of our dedicated members. It's because of our members that we are able to have Group meetings and other events, educate the public on environmental issues, protect local natural areas, and lobby our government representatives for more favorable environmental laws and policies.

Volunteers of all kinds are always welcome, including:

  • The person who wants to commit a significant effort to a specific issue or role he or she feels passionate about.
  • The person who would like to sign up for occasional volunteer activities without making a long-term commitment.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out our volunteer survey and someone from our group will contact you as soon as possible.

If you have questions, you can email us at hoi@illinois.sierraclub.org or contact one of our Group officers directly.
