Save Bears Ears National Monument

May 2017

Bears EarsAction Needed!  Please phone the U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke at 202-208-7351 and leave a message that you support the Bears Ears National Monument and want these lands protected for future generations. This land was already owned by the United States and under our federal Bureau of Land Management before it was designated as a National Monument by President Obama after years of public hearings and extensive requests by Native American tribes in support of the National Monument status.

National Monuments have much greater protections and controls on what types of uses are made of the land. The Utah governor, federal Congressional members, and others claim these lands should be available for oil, gas and other resource extraction, which could include fracking, mining, extensive grazing, ATV and 4-wheelers, and other uses. Bears Ears National Monument covers national legacy lands to conserve extremely fragile, arid, scenic and historic areas including sacred Native American sites in Utah. President Trump has stated he wants to eliminate the Bears Ears National Monument and has ordered Zinke to report back by June 10th with recommendations.

Please also email, write, or call your U.S. Representative to urge them to keep the Bears Ears National Monument and protect these lands for future generations.
