Attend when you can – lots of fun things to do and a variety of musical entertainment!

Help with any donation you can at the SAVE RIVERFRONT PARK free afternoon in the park! Beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16th, the Eagle Ridge Drummers will provide an opening and Jo Lakota will comment and tell a traditional story. Updates from Friends of Riverfront Park will be followed by Dave Hoffman and Friends jazz. Next there will be folk songs and music by Chris Stevens, guitar. There will be a "picture the park" art table, corn-hole toss games, photo booth, and Save the Park information and action table. Haddad’s food cart is expected to be available for a late lunch and snacks. At 2:30.p.m. you can stretch your legs and take a short walk for a 20 minute Riverfront Park Prairie talk and tour with Doug Franks and members of the Prairie Dawgs. At 3:15 p.m. Mike Rucker, Chair, Friends of the Rock Island Trail, will have a short walk and talk for about 15 minutes on the history and significance of the riverfront section of the bicycle trail.

This event will be held near Constitution Gardens, at the north end of Riverfront Park at the foot of Morton Street. Park in the RiverPlex parking lot near the sand volleyball courts and enjoy the walk north up-river on the trail to the program area. Limited parking is available off of Morton Street. Bring a blanket or folding chairs for sitting. In case of rain the event will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1420 W. Moss Ave., Peoria. The event is free but donations will be accepted. Funds are being raised to prepare for legal action to keep this area a public park for the people for generations to come.
