Peoria will celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 4th from 9 a.m. to noon with a variety of events centered at the Peoria Greenway bike trail and Knoxville Avenue Bridge at the southeast side of the Junction City parking lot, 5901 W. Prospect Road. Friends of the Rock Island Trail are the chief organizers for this event. Area hiking and bike groups will have activities throughout the morning. Peoria Audubon Society is hosting a bird watching hike at Donovan Park across the street, and information tables and a minor bike tune up station will be available. HOI Group will have an information table with “Share the Trail” handouts and good environmental practices lists. If you would like to volunteer to help at the table, please phone 309-688-0950.
