NJ Sierra Club Joins Gov. Murphy To Celebrate EPA Solar For All Funding

Bayville, NJ - Today, the NJ Sierra Club joined Governor Phil Murphy, the NJ Board of Public Utilities, IBEW Local 400 and Senator Amato at the Eagle solar array in Bayville to celebrate the latest Solar For All award from the EPA.

This past Earth Day, April 22, 2024, the EPA announced that New Jersey was awarded $156,120,000 in funding through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund’s Solar For All program. The competition, created by President Biden’s landmark Inflation Reduction Act, seeks to enable low-income and disadvantaged households across America to access the benefits of low-cost, clean solar energy—benefits that include home energy savings, energy resilience, improved air quality, wealth building, and quality jobs. A complete list of recipients of Solar For All awards can be found here

Anjuli Ramos-Busot, Director of the NJ Sierra Club, made the following statement:

“The New Jersey Sierra Club is extremely pleased to see this scale of solar and clean energy become more accessible to all residents across the state. Our access to clean energy sources should never depend on zip-code, and this funding will help ensure that working class and low-income families and disadvantaged communities are not left behind.

This is yet another instance of the Inflation Reduction Act delivering for communities, investing in our clean energy future instead of dirty fossil fuels, and helping families save money on their energy costs.

We thank the Biden Administration, the Murphy Administration for jointly tackling climate action and energy justice. Our just transition towards a transformed clean energy economy must be inclusive, and this funding will ensure that folks in New Jersey can all be a part of that brighter and safer future.”
