Legacy Giving

What do you want your legacy to be? A planned gift to the New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club will create a lasting legacy that provides for a sustainable and healthy future.  Naming the New Jersey Chapter as a beneficiary in your will, living trust or other estate planning documents will provide a significant, meaningful and enduring impact to the New Jersey Chapter.  You may also choose to name the Chapter in your life insurance policy, IRA or retirement plan.

Whichever strategy you choose, planned gifts give you the benefit of remaining in full control of your assets during your lifetime and the ability to modify your gift to address changing circumstances.

Most donors define their gifts as general use gifts.  This type of gift is the most helpful to the New Jersey Chapter because it allows us to direct funds to our most crucial conservation priorities. However, should you have a specific environmental or program interest, we would be happy to assist you in planning a gift that meets your interests and the long-term goals of the New Jersey Chapter.

Should you decide to include the New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club in your plans, we hope you’ll let us know.  This information helps guide our long-term planning and allows us to express our thanks to you for including the Chapter in your estate plan.

To request more information, including sample language that your attorney may find helpful, or to notify us about your plan, please contact New Jersey Chapter Treasurer Paul Sanderson at paulmsanderson@aol.com or call 908-233-2414.

If you wish to explore Planned Giving options other than a simple will or bequest, please contact giftplanning@sierraclub.org.  But be sure to specify that the gift is to be earmarked for the New Jersey Chapter.
