Wind Becomes a Reality
Trenton -- The Offshore Wind Economic Development Act, bill S2036/A2873, got out of committee today and will be posted for votes in both the Senate and Assembly on Monday. This bill provides market based credits for offshore wind as well as tax credits to build offshore wind manufacturing facilities. The Sierra Club was the only environmental group to support the bill today.
"This is a major step forward for the development of offshore wind. Last week the DEP released a study showing that offshore wind will have minimal environmental impacts. This week the legislature moved forward on a funding proposal that will make offshore wind a reality," said Jeff Tittel, New Jersey Sierra Club Director.
