According to the Trump administration, we’re not endangered anymore by those pesky greenhouse gases! Alas, the fact is that GHGs have been contributing to climate change that harms human health. Although Lee Zeldin has proudly said that, as EPA Administrator, he is “proud to deliver the single largest deregulatory action in U.S. history on behalf of American taxpayers and consumers”, he is risking people’s health, safety and futures. His action flies in the face of the long-established scientific consensus that global warming constitutes a great risk to human health.
The simple fact is that by eliminating the Endangerment Finding, the Trump administration will make us sicker, raise our electric bills, and enable the fossil fuel industry to pollute our environment at will. This action needs to be stopped because the EPA has one job and one job only: it is to protect people.
We’re fighting back, and we need you with us as we demand that Congress make the EPA uphold its responsibility to our communities.
The Sierra Club has played a historic role in securing these protections, bringing the first lawsuits and helping win the Supreme Court case that led to the Endangerment Finding in the first place. Please read Dana Drugmand’s in-depth article in Sierra Magazine.
