Tell Congress to Fight for a Safe Climate
|
Clean air, clean water, climate action, and healthy communities should be a given. Federal agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Energy (DOE), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) play key roles in: addressing pollution and the climate crisis; making cheaper, cleaner energy more accessible; and helping people prepare for and recover from extreme weather. We need well-funded and well-staffed federal agencies to do this critical work.
That’s why Congress needs to adequately fund and staff the EPA and other agencies and ensure that the administration follows the law by spending congressionally appropriated funding as intended. Congress must enable agencies and their staff to continue their mission of protecting the people of the United States and future generations so they can live safe and healthy lives.

No thrones. No crowns. No kings.
|
NO KINGS is a peaceful national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration, which they have doubled down on since June. They are targeting immigrant families, profiling, arresting and detaining people without warrants; threatening to overtake elections; gutting health care, environmental protections, and education when families need them most; rigging maps to silence voters; ignoring mass shootings at our schools and in our communities; and driving up the cost of living while handing out massive giveaways to billionaire allies, as families struggle. They are eviscerating climate and clean energy programs.

Take Action to Oppose Repeal of AZ’s Renewable Energy Standard Mark Your Calendar for Public Comment |
In August, the Arizona Corporation voted 5-0 to proceed with repealing Arizona’s Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff (REST), despite the significant benefits it provides to ratepayers and strong opposition by clean energy advocates. The REST rules have incentivized development of clean, low-cost renewable energy like solar power and have brought investment and jobs to Arizona.
The REST has been a huge success. Arizona utilities have steadily increased their share of renewable generation since 2007. From 2007 to 2020, the REST catalyzed nearly $12 billion in clean-energy investment in Arizona and generated approximately $2 billion in public benefits. These benefits include more affordable electricity and reduced use of higher-cost generation like coal and gas, increased investment in Arizona businesses and jobs, technology cost reductions, water savings, and reduced air pollution.
We want the ACC to say no to this repeal and to instead to proceed with strengthening it. As recent backsliding by utilities has made clear, we need strong standards in place to ensure that clean solar and wind are our future, not dirty coal and gas.
Please send a letter to the ACC asking them to reject the repeal of the standard and to instead strengthen it.
Also, for Tucson folks, mark your calendar and show up to speak up on November 10th.
There will also be an opportunity to comment in-person in Phoenix on November 13.
