19:46:33 From Courtney Williams to Everyone:
How do we stop the existing PFAS-containing stuff from contaminating everything when it's disposed of?

19:50:18 From Jackson Sanders to Everyone:
    thank you for the presentation!

19:51:09 From Edward J Berry to Everyone:
Great Presentation, well done. Many thanks

19:51:26 From Susan Van Dolsen to Everyone:
We put in a reverse osmosis system for drinking water that is supposed to take out the PFAS. Does anyone know if RO systems really remove it completely to 0?

19:52:20 From Courtney Williams to Everyone:
Related of interest: WASS did a meeting on PFAS and trash incineration. It can be watched here: https://youtu.be/cnzS4oFw9Lk?si=tmLaZyityg-BVefQ

19:55:33 From Susan Van Dolsen to Everyone:
Does anyone know about yoga pants and other athletic wear. I’ve heard they have PFAS.

19:55:57 From Bobbi Wilding, Clean+Healthy (she/her) to Everyone:
Replying to "Does anyone know about yoga pants and other athlet...":
yes, older testing found that - now, that should be illegal in NYS

19:56:48 From Gale Pisha to Everyone:
I just looked up toilet paper on Mamavation and found that the kind we used, which has a high recycled paper content, had the highest levels of PFAS. See Courtney's question earlier in the chat about disposal.

19:57:23 From Caitlin Ferrante, Sierra Club (she/her) to Everyone:
Courtney’s earlier question: How do we stop the existing PFAS-containing stuff from contaminating everything when it's disposed of?

19:57:46 From Susan Van Dolsen to Everyone:
Replying to "Does anyone know about yoga pants and other athlet...":
Thanks, but does that mean we need to get rid of all of our older athletic clothing? If so, how do we do that without getting it into the waste stream?

19:59:08 From Tom Helling to Everyone:
Thank you Caitlin and Bobbi for your presentation.

19:59:35 From Bobbi Wilding, Clean+Healthy (she/her) to Everyone:
there is an app available from a French company called Yuka, which can scan barcodes for personal care products and give a rating. It has made it easier for me and my 15 year old to navigate the makeup aisles

20:01:24 From Courtney Williams to Everyone:
Can we mute the phone caller?

20:02:05 From Gale Pisha to Everyone:
I think there's a bill that would test outflow from wastewater treatment plants for PFAS.

20:05:08 From Courtney Williams to Everyone:
Very much in favor of the legislative solutions.

Would really like Zero Waste solutions to be part of the conversation so we aren't forgetting the EJ communities along the lifecycle of these products.

20:05:18 From Caitlin Ferrante, Sierra Club (she/her) to Everyone:
Thank you, Susan! We will definitely have action items as session wraps up

20:09:15 From Courtney Williams to Everyone:
I tell folks- it's not a personal moral failure to generate trash when you live in a disposable society. The system is built that way.

And everyone on this call could never generate another piece of PFAS waste and it wouldn't help.

We're better focusing our time and effort on the kinds of systemic changes we're talking abt on this call.

20:11:08 From Suzanne Barclay to Everyone:
Thank you for an excellent presentation. Regarding the Packaging Reduction Act, if you live in Rockland please call Assembly Member Wieder to urge him to vote for the bill - 518-455-5118. Assembly bill 1749 and Senate bill 1464.

20:14:24 From Gale Pisha to Everyone:
Replying to "I tell folks- it's not a personal moral failure to...":
Great thoughts, Courtney. But if people try to buy things in bulk whenever they can, not only would they be reducing their own packaging footprint but sending a message to manufacturers.

20:14:53 From Carol De Angelo to Everyone:
Thank you! Excellent presentation and conversation!

20:16:39 From Gail Dutan to Everyone:
Thank you for taking the time to give us this presentation.

20:17:38 From Courtney Williams to Everyone:
Replying to "I tell folks- it's not a personal moral failure to...":
Agree Gale. But in Peekskill (and basically ALL EJ communities) that's not really an option. The compounding of pollution and racism and poverty. Etc
