Karen Anderson and Sarah Hodder to discuss why both birds and gardening are so important as part of Susquehanna Group’s monthly meetin
BROOME COUNTY, NY — On Tuesday, March 17th at 7pm, Karen Anderson and Sarah Hodder will present "Gardening IS For the Birds!" In their talk, they will discuss why both birds and gardening are so important, discuss the many challenges birds face, and then spend time on how we can help them. Emphasis will be on establishing garden(s), garden concepts to keep in mind, and the importance of using native plants. They will also be sharing information on many native plants that are known to work well in our area.
Sarah Hodder is a former educator and administrator for 33 years at Chenango Valley Central School District, and has been a Master Gardener for 16 years through Cornell Cooperative Extension at Cutler Botanic Gardens. She has served as the President of the New York State Bluebird Society for the past seven years, and has always had a deep love and appreciation for the natural world and all of its aspects.
Karen Anderson has been an avid gardener since the age of 10, and a Master Gardener for the past two decades. She is especially interested in native plants, organic gardening, and environmental awareness.
On the third Tuesday of each month the Sierra Club Susquehanna Group hosts their general membership meeting that is free and open to the public. Meetings are held in person and via Zoom. The meeting begins with a brief update on club activities and moves into a guest presentation on various topics of environmental interest.
