The Sierra Club is endorsing two of the strongest environmental allies on the DC Council for re-election: Brianne Nadeau (D-Ward 1) and Charles Allen (D-Ward 6).
“Brianne Nadeau and Charles Allen consistently stand with the environmental community, fighting to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and transition to clean energy, expand sustainable transportation, protect our drinking water and rivers, and reduce waste,” said Mark Rodeffer, the Sierra Club DC Chapter’s Political Committee chair. “The Sierra Club could not ask for stronger partners on the DC Council, and we look forward to mobilizing our members to vote for these environmental allies and continue our work with them on environmental conservation over the next four years.”
Councilmember Allen said: “I’m honored and grateful for the trust and support of the Sierra Club's DC Chapter. It's a partnership I value and has helped me fight hard on the Council. Whether it's groundbreaking legislation to rethink the District's energy future, fighting to modernize the Public Service Commission to protect the District's residents, or taking on the big utility companies trying to slow walk into the future, we have to act now to lower emissions, clean our rivers and air, and take the bold steps needed to meet our energy and sustainability goals. Councilmember Nadeau said: “I'm proud to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club today, which is a testament to the strong collaboration we've had since I first took office in 2015. The Sierra Club is evaluating candidates in other 2022 races in DC and hopes to make additional endorsements soon.
DC’s primary election is Tuesday, June 21, 2022 and the general election is Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
