Getting active at the local level is a fantastic way to promote positive climate choices in your own community!

We're always looking for volunteers! For more information on our issue teams, contact our team leaders at the email addresses below. Most team meetings are virtually, with in-person events every few months.

The Chicago Group is managed by volunteers who comprise the Chicago Group Executive Committee. Our teams handle the day-to-day operations of the Chicago Group's conservation, political, social and administration activities.

Chicago Inspiring Connections Oudoors (ICO)
Chicago ICO, an outreach program of Sierra Club Outdoors, connects youth who have limited access to the outdoors with nature outings that promote exploration, wellness, and leadership, both in their home cities and beyond. Contact: chicagoICO@gmail.com

Political Action Team
Elect environmental champions at all levels of government. Contact: David Teeghman, davidteeghman@gmail.com 

Water Team
Work to keep the Chicago-Area Waterways clean and enjoyable for all. Meets on the second Monday of every month. Contact: Connor Sparks, connorsparks23@gmail.com

City Council Action Team
Work face-to-face with Alderpeople to advocate for environmental and progressive legislation in City Council. Contact: David Teeghman, davidteeghman@gmail.com 

Transportation Team
Advocate for improvements in public transit, biking, and pedestrian safety. Contacts: Sativa Volbrecht, svolbrecht@uchicago.edu and Emilee Chaclas, emilee.chaclas@sierraclub.org.
