Eagle View Group ExCom Elections 2025

Jon Duyvejonck

I have been a Mississippi River biologist for 36 years, working as a water resource planner for the Corps of Engineers from 1981 to 1992.  From 1992 until 2004 I was Coordinator for the Upper Mississippi River Conservation Committee.  I also worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service doing river restoration and
studying the effects of navigation on fish and wildlife resources.  I recently retired, but continue to work with many local organizations in the Quad Cities (River Action, Quad Cities Conservation Alliance, and Guardians of Prairie and Forest).  Continuing conservation activities include prairie restoration, environmental education, freshwater mussel conservation, and Mississippi River habitat restoration.  I earned an M.S. degree from Illinois State University.  My priorities are improving water quality and habitat protection/conservation.

Residence: Davenport. Occupation: Development Associate, Butterworth Center and Deere-Wiman House, Moline, IL, and Natural Resources Technician, Lark Fields, Stockton IA. Sierra Club Member since 2015.
Activities: Iowa Interfaith Power & Light, three-term board member, 2013-2020; volunteer, Nahant Marsh Environmental Education Center, since 2015.
I have volunteered with environmental education programs since undergrad, over 25 years. I did a Master of Theology in Ecology and Theology at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I've lived in the Quad Cities since 2012. I completed three terms on the board of Iowa Interfaith Power & Light in 2020, and was looking for another organization to volunteer with; someone suggested Eagle View Group. I've enjoyed getting to know the other members of the ExCom and learning more about it and Sierra Club as a whole during the past year. I look forward to helping support Eagle View Group with Fundraising and Educational Outreach opportunities.

I have been a Sierra Club member for 40 years. Sierra Club is an important part of our environmental efforts now more than ever. It takes dedication and service to keep moving forward in preserving a healthy environment in these challenging times. Sierra Club is a grassroots organization that works because many volunteers work. I will be happy to serve another term on the Eagle View Group ExCom.
