The critical issue today is protecting our environment during rapid climate change and working locally to improve our native environment. I work to help others get involved in these efforts.
I have been active in our Lobby Team for several years and have met with our state reps to get their support for our supported bills and been involved in canvassing for their elections.
For the last two years I was the leader/coordinator of our group in planning our major yearly large Earth Day events which involved not only the Northwest Cook County group but also local environmental groups in clearing large common areas from non-native plants.
I was a project manager for over 15 years and an adjunct faculty member at Harper College for over 20 years. I have the experience needed in developing teams, establishing focus, and planning efforts needed to face the challenges ahead.

The Sierra Club is a special organization, because we members direct it. The Club succeeds by enabling us to make a difference for the environment. I have served on the executive committee of the Northwest Cook County Group since 2000. I am also the group’s political chair. The political committee works to endorse and elect pro-environment candidates. I am also political chair for the Illinois Chapter and participate in the Grassroots Lobbying Network.
I came to activism though ecological restoration. I have volunteered with the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards since 1989. In 1995 Cook County halted all restoration work when a few residents raised objections. I saw that politicians cannot make good policy unless we talk with them. So I started talking. It took a decade to whittle away the restrictions, but the county board now knows something about protecting and restoring local nature.
Please reelect me. Thanks!

Through the Sierra Club, I’ve helped promote local green initiatives in Arlington Heights through Arlington Heights Cool Cities and participated on the Sierra Club Arlington Heights political endorsement committee to identify and support candidates supporting equity and sustainability initiatives. I’ve served on the Sierra Club Northwest Cook County Executive Committee and as a delegate with the Illinois Executive Committee to bring ideas from around the state to Northwest Cook County. Thank you for considering me for re-election!

I have been a member of Sierra Club for six years. I was elected to the Executive Committee and served as Secretary for the 2021- 2022 term. In my time with the club, I have been working on the Communication Team as the Webmaster for our website. I am the Chairman for the Monarch/Pollinator Committee. I have also served as an interviewer for the Arlington Heights Board of Trustees 2025 candidates seeking the Sierra Club endorsement. I do volunteer work with the Chicago Botanic Gardens, as well. I have a great love for nature and my wish is to support the Sierra Club mission and goals by being elected to this group.

The direction of the US has changed drastically, since my last bio, two years ago. The implementation of the current administration’s horrendous policies continue to dismantle Liberty and foment injustices. However, the Sierra Club’s Mission Statement still calls us to keep pace with these vital issues. As we are inundated by this merciless power grab, we need each other more than ever. I will continue to be a focal point, lending my assistance to our greatest strength, our members, volunteers, and leaders, so that we can be as proficient activists as possible. We need to be well-informed and omnipresent within our communities; sharing our knowledge with people and groups outside Sierra Club as well. I have the needed experience and will continue to avail myself: town halls, hearings, workshops, training, lobbying, canvassing etc. We are here for you. We need your help and direction as well. I’m honored to serve!
