Sandy Kaptain
I have been a member for many years, and I am committed to the environment, esp. for climate change solutions. I have worked with a local group of 350.org, Elgin Green Groups350 for 10 years, also with Citizens Climate Lobby, and helped form SOIL, Save Our Illinois Land to fight tar sands use and increased greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. I have served on the VOF ExCom and helped with programs. I am doing Political Chair next year in hopes of getting the best candidates running for State and Federal offices at this crucial time to protect our democracy. Sierra Club is the most important 'green' organization to protect us and the environment.f

I am seeking reelection to the Valley of the Fox (VOF) Executive Committee. I have been a member of the Sierra Club since 1988, and support their goals and conservation efforts, especially in these trying times. Locally, I am on the outings and membership committees. A special concern is clean water, and I contribute to the Fox River monitoring and cleanups. Personally, I attempt to conserve energy, promote sustainability, and frequently use biking as a means of transportation.

Linda Gaska
Over the last 16 years, my passion and focus has been to help the environment in any way I can. During the 2021-2022 political season, I served VOF Sierra Club as the Political Chair. Currently, I am the Political Field Team Chair and am looking forward to supporting current and future environmentally-focused candidates while being on the VOF Executive Committee. Along with leading my church’s Creation Care Team (CCT) and mentoring another church’s CCT, I am a member of the Coalition to Stop CO2 Pipelines here in Illinois. My previous professional and volunteer background has provided me with a wealth of knowledge that helps me see the “big picture” while providing the ability to organize the essential details that accomplish “big picture” goals. If elected, I hope to further my involvement toward environmental justice and ecological sustainability.
