Condor Call Editor John Hankins was feted on Oct 8 as part of the National Sierra Club “honoring today’s changemakers.”
Santa Barbara-Ventura Chapter Executive Committee Chair Maureen Ellenberger said, “This is the event that our dear friend, extraordinary storyteller and determined journalist John Hankins will be announced and given his award officially.”
Hankins said, “while my name is on the award, it’s a collaborative effort by our writers, photographers and the Pre-Press wizard who interprets my layouts, Dan Fuller.”
The Communication Excellence Award honors the best use of communications by volunteers to further the Club's mission.
Condor Call newsletter has been printed since 1952 and is one of Santa Barbara’s most trusted sources of environmental news. Hankins has been editor of Condor Call for the last 50 years. See past issues since 2013 in PDF format.
