Sierra Club Endorses John Leopold for County Supervisor

John Leopold

John is a very popular incumbent. There is no comparison between John and his only opponent Benjamin Cogan.

John has worked on issues important to the Sierra Club including the following:

     Various transportation issues.

As the Board of Supervisor’s representative to LAFCO John developed long over-due water polices that eventually held up UCSC’s mega-growth plans on the North Campus’ Natural Reserve.

"I have drafted effective water policies for local agencies and I am a leader in the effort to ensure long-term groundwater sustainability. I continue to look for ways to give our community a voice in water decisions and water rates.”

Carried the banner to ban fracking in Santa Cruz County.

"When the federal government began selling new leases for oil and fracking development, we fought for regulations that make our county the first to ban fracking in the State of California."

Speaking out against the TransPacific Partnership (TPP), an anti-environmental and anti-labor trade agreement.
