Gay and Lesbian Sections

Gay and Lesbian Sierrans is an official activity section of the Sierra Club. Many chapters and groups around the country sponsor outdoor activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community members and their friends.

The first Gay and Lesbian Sierrans section was the San Franciso GLS, founded in 1986 as part of the San Francisco Bay Chapter. The Angeles Chapter GLS won recognition in 1988. Loma Prieta GLS (the San Jose area of California) was third, becoming an official activity section in 1991. Numerous other GLS sections have been started since.

Below you will find links to Web sites for Gay and Lesbian Sierrans in various chapters. Not all GLS groups maintain a Web page, however, so if you'd like to know whether your chapter has one, please contact the local chapter directly. Choose your state in the "My Backyard" pulldown at the top of this page and follow the links to contact information for the chapter.
