Sierra Club Celebrates National Volunteer Week: Fran Silva-Blayney

In honor of National Volunteer Week, we celebrate our Colorado Chapter volunteer and activist Fran Silva-Blayney who works tirelessly to remove toxic chemicals like PFAS from our waterways.

Silva-Blayney grew up in California, exposed to constant air pollution and drought. In recent years, she has committed to testing water in Colorado Springs. These experiences taught Fran about the urgency and scope of the challenges she tackles.

"Social and environmental issues are often working in parallel." Fran says, "As you become aware of environmental issues and dive down to the root source of a problem, more often than not you see it’s really a social justice issue."
