Get Outside

We all need nature

We all need nature

Spending time outside has a way of changing us. It helps us slow down, build community, and fall in love with the natural world. And when we love a place, we're far more likely to protect it. Come explore, enjoy, and protect the outdoors with us.

National Outings

Sierra Club National Outings guide people through the natural world and inspire environmental stewardship. With 250+ trips annually, ranging from backcountry treks to international journeys, each outing forges a deeper connection to our planet's wild places.

Chapter Outings

More than 30,000 participants attend over 5,500 Sierra Club Chapter Outings nationwide each year. Events include volunteer-led day hikes, hiking, bicycling, bird-watching, camping and more.

Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO)

A volunteer-powered Chapter Outings program that advances outdoor equity by connecting young people to meaningful and educational experiences outdoors.

Military Outdoors

Military Outdoors outings help participants heal emotionally and physically as they transition from active duty to active citizenship, by creating restorative outdoor experiences together for service members, veterans, and their families.

Outdoors for All

Outdoors for All is working toward a just, equitable, and sustainable future where all people benefit from a healthy thriving planet and a direct connection to nature. Through outings, coalition building, and advocacy, the campaign is closing the nature gap for communities across America.

Outdoors Alliance for Kids

Sierra Club hosts and leads the Outdoors Alliance for Kids, a national strategic partnership of more than 100 organizations advocating for equitable and readily available opportunities for children, youth, and families to experience the outdoors. Together, we are working to get one million kids outdoors each year.
