The Sierra Club Has Big Plans for 2022

<

2021 is coming to a close. Earlier this week, the Sierra Club community gathered to celebrate the enormous progress we’ve made this year in passing the Build Back Better Act, and commit together to continue taking action to protect our communities, our climate, and our freedom to vote in 2022.

If you missed the event, you check out the recap video above. Or read on for some highlights from the event and information about how you can help us make progress on key environmental and social justice issues in the new year

Chapters Are PowerfulーJoin Yours

  • Chapter leaders Caitlin Pischeria and Dr. Mark Boudreau shared their powerful experiences organizing against climate change in Montana and Pennsylvania.

  • Chapters are the heart of our power at the Sierra Club. Connect with other changemakers and get involved in local work in every state and Puerto Rico.

Our Democracy is Under AttackーBut We Can Help Defend It

  • Free and fair elections  are under attack on multiple fronts and at a level we have never seen before.

  • In this year alone over 425 anti-voter bills were introduced in nearly every state.

  • Thankfully, there are solutions: The Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which will act as a sword and a shield for our democracy.

  • Join us every Tuesday in January for a phone-banking series to call Sierra Club members and supporters in target states to encourage them to urge their Senators to pass voting rights legislation now.

  • And while you’re at itーcall your senator right now! Text SENATORS to 69866 or dial 855-980-2275 to be automatically connected.

We’re So Close to Passing a Powerful Climate & Social Justice BillーBut We Need Your Help Getting It Across the Finish Line

  • The House has passed the Build Back Better Act, which would be our country’s  largest-ever investment in climate action, good clean energy jobs, and environmental justice. Curious about what these investments would mean for you and your community? Check out this factsheet

  • The Senate is expected to vote as soon as next week. Text SENATORS to 69866 or dial 855-980-2275 to be automatically connected to your senator’s office. Ask them to pass this historic bill (and democracy reforms) without delay!

Everything we've accomplished in 2021 has only been possible because of the work of thousands of Sierra Club members and supporters like you, who lobbied your legislators, called your representatives and President Biden, joined rallies, hosted house parties, and took thousands of other actions small and large. As 2021 comes to a close, I hope you'll join us in taking a moment to rest, celebrate, and connect so we're ready to continue the work to protect our climate, communities, and democracy in 2022.
