Sierra Club Scavenger Hunt

Children can be curious, and encouraging that sense of curiosity is a great way to cultivate an early interest in nature and the outdoors as well as nurturing their budding observational skills.

From as close as your own backyard or the park down the street to one of the many sprawling national parks, this handy graphic can be a fun way to teach kids to engage with their surroundings and spot the ways nature exists around them.

This scavenger hunt was created by Sierra Club specially for Once Upon a Meadow, a podcast for 4- to 9-year-olds from the creators of award-winning podcast Out There, which features fictional tales about a community of animals and plants who work together to flourish. The scavenger hunt accompanies episode two as an extra activity that listeners can do for ongoing learning.
