BROOME COUNTY, NY — Today the Sierra Club Susquehanna Group announced that they donated $250 to the Southern Tier Land Conservancy. The donation follows the February presentation to Group members by Jason Shaw, President of the Conservancy.
The Southern Tier Land Conservancy is a nonprofit dedicated to conserving the lands and waters of Broome and Tioga Counties to ensure the future of natural areas, heritage and farmland practices, recreational experiences, scenic beauty, and wild spaces to further connect the people and lands of the Southern Tier. Their biggest project to date includes the conservation of the Canawanna Nature Preserve, and they are currently working with the Waterman Conservation Center to take over the monitoring of the former IBM Glen.
The Susquehanna Group, along with the the million-plus-member national Sierra Club, advocates for the exploration, enjoyment, and protection of wild places, and responsible use of our planet’s resources. The Group, which covers Broome, Chenango, Delaware & Sullivan counties, as well as parts of Tioga & Otsego counties, aims to support other local nonprofit groups doing work in line with their mission. Contributions to the Southern Tier Land Conservancy go toward the purchase of land as well as insurance and legal fees to help them continue their important conservation efforts.
The Susquehanna Group encourages the community to join them in supporting the Southern Tier Land Conservancy. Donations can be made online via PayPal at:
