Ways to Get Involved

Step 1: Watch the 90 second explainer video above

We're so excited that you're here. This work is important because false information that is spread online can have serious consequences. Meanwhile, valuable content can get lost in the noise without enough people seeing it. Research shows that someone needs to see information three times before they remember it. So THANK YOU for becoming a climate truth teller!

Step 2: Keep an eye out for weekly emails, and join our WhatsApp group

  1. Download the WhatsApp application if you don't already use it in your app store or at https://www.whatsapp.com/.
  2. Join the group using this link: https://sc.org/TruthTellersWhatsApp.

  4. Always be respectful and considerate of other members. We reserve the right to remove anyone from the chat for any rude and disrespectful behavior.
  5. You're welcome to leave the group if you don't want to communicate via WhatsApp. We do recommend trying it out as it will be the best space to learn from one another, brainstorm, and plan.

Step 3: Learn about the importance of social media in shaping public opinion

  • 70% of the U.S. (239 million people) use at least one social media platform daily. The most popular ones are Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • The average person in the United States spends two hours and seven minutes daily on social media.
  • According to Pew Research Group, half of U.S. adults often or sometimes get their news from social media.
  • Pew also found that 77% of people in the U.S. believe social media is an effective way to raise awareness about political and social issues.
