What is Campfire?

Campfire is replacing Clubhouse and will also be the host to the Club’s intranet. Campfire Events is the first tool available to Sierra Club Staff and volunteer leaders under the Campfire umbrella. Other Campfire tools that will be released in 2018 include the replacement for WILD (Web Interactive Leader Directory) and Volunteer Connection, which connects potential volunteers with Sierra Club volunteer opportunities.

What is Campfire Events?

It is a website where you can create events of all kinds. It allows you to create an event and have it flow through to all Club websites, including AddUp & Chapter/Group/National calendars. You can also track attendance and have people sign an electronic waiver.

Who uses Campfire Events?

All National/Field/Chapter Staff and volunteer leaders, Group volunteer leaders, and Section volunteer leaders use Campfire Events. As long as National has the user listed as a volunteer leader or Chapter staff in WILD, they can easily gain access.

Is Campfire Events replacing any of the old Sierra Club technology tools?

Campfire Events is replacing the Online Activity Registration System (OARS). Leaders and staff could create an event in OARS and it would show up on Club calendars and websites. People who registered for an event would be tagged with the event in HELEN (our online constituent tracking tool, which is being replaced by CORE III). Campfire Events is built on our new constituent tool, CORE, which is the Sierra Club’s Salesforce-based Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) tool. CORE will eventually replace all of our systems.

Does Campfire Events sync data with any other Sierra Club technology tool?

Campfire Events is really just another view into CORE that we customized to make it easier to use. Events, attendance and waiver information that you create/change Campfire Events are updated in CORE and changes made in CORE are updated in Campfire Events as the same data is used by both systems. Unlike CORE, Campfire Events users do not need a Salesforce license to access the apps available through Campfire.

How do I get access to Campfire Events?

As long as National has the user listed as a volunteer leader or Chapter staff in WILD, they have access. Users do not have to ask us for permission and you can use Campfire Events as soon as you want. We do ask that if your team coordinates events, please talk to others in your team and work on a timetable to switch over. To register for Campfire, check out these instructions. If you believe you should be able to register and generate a password but are having difficulty, please contact campfire.events@sierraclub.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

What training is available?

Campfire Events will also be covered in the 2017-18 CORE III in-state training series. You can also access a  thorough help document by clicking here. We will also be creating an online video training series.  Links to videos will be posted here and on the Campfire Events log-in page. If you have problems or questions, email campfire.events@sierraclub.org.

How much money does it cost to acquire additional Campfire Events licenses?

Unlike CORE, Campfire Events users do not need a Salesforce license to access the apps available through Campfire! As long as National has the user listed as a volunteer leader or Chapter staff in WILD, they can easily gain access.

Who should I contact if I need support?

Please contact Brenda Cargin, Chapter Communications Coordinator, at brenda.cargin@sierraclub.org.

If you require further technical assistance, please send an email to campfire.events@sierraclub.org.
