September Speaker Series: The Circular Economy

Join us for our next monthly speaker series — The Circular Economy — on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30pm! We'll be joined by Dr. Jennifer Russell, Assistant Professor with the Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources & Environment. Dr. Russell's work focuses on the circular economy and sustainability—the flows of materials within economic consumption production systems, as well as strategies for slowing and closing material loops. Her background includes an emphasis on strategy for market transformation.

During this Speaker Series, Dr. Russell will share more about 'the circular economy,' including an introduction of both theoretical and practical aspects of the circular economy framework. Dr. Russell will share key terminology, tools to measure positive and negative impacts, clarification of the barriers and opportunities, identification of key stakeholders and agents working to realize a transition, and an introduction to some of the practical, everyday opportunities for individuals to engage in circular economy practices.

The event will be held in-person at the Old Bakery Beer Company at 400 Landmarks Boulevard in Alton, Illinois. The speaking program will begin at 6:30pm in the room adjacent to Old Bakery Beer Company's dining room. There is a virtual option to tune into the speaking program via Zoom for folks who are unable to join us in-person. Register here to join us (either virtually or in-person) for our September Speaker Series to learn more from Dr. Russell about the circular economy!
