Stop the Expansion of Gas Exports!
Stop the Expansion of Gas Exports!
The expansion of liquefied gas exports (LNG) would be a disaster for our health and climate. The emissions impact of all proposed export projects would be the equivalent of more than 550 coal-fired power plants and these exports raise energy prices for American families. Extracting fracked methane gas also poisons the air of communities along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast with dangerous, cancer-causing chemicals.
Fortunately, we're well on our way to stop it. But the fossil fuel industry is fighting to block our progress. We must keep up the pressure on President Biden and the Department of Energy!
Campaign Updates
On Friday, January 26, President Biden halted all new liquified gas exports, known as LNG, effective immediately! The importance of this win cannot be overstated. The emissions impact of all the proposed and under construction gas export projects would have been the equivalent of over 550 new coal-fired power plants. The Biden administration did this because changemakers like you and frontline leaders from along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast took grassroots action. We protested, marched, sent petitions, posted on social media, talked with friends and family, lobbied our elected officials, and so much more. And we WON.
