When it comes to achieving our goals, we know that no one can succeed alone. As a grassroots organization, our primary purpose is to empower communities with the tools they need to solve local problems and envision a sustainable future.
Our Coalitions:
In 2019, the Maine Chapter organized with Center for Ecology Based Economy, Maine Youth for Climate Justice, and A Climate To Thrive to form Maine Climate Action Now! (MCAN!). The coalition seeks to organize strategy and collaboration across the state in order to achieve an equitable transition to zero-carbon emissions by 2030. MCAN! centers youth, frontline, and high risk community voices in their work, amplifying stories and data to pass critical legislation and lead large-scale mobilization efforts. Founded in 2004 by the Maine Conservation Alliance, Sierra Club Maine joined with 40 other organizations to collaborate on common environmental goals within the state legislature. Together, these organizations craft policy that reflects our shared values, initiate mobilization efforts including citizen lobbying and phone banking, and share resources that help us move toward a more sustainable future for Maine.
