Frontline Organizations Battling COVID-19 Need Our Help!

This global COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone in our Sierra Club community in different ways. We know for sure that vulnerable communities—those without access to healthcare, seniors, children, working families and more—are feeling the brunt of the pandemic.

As schools are closed, eldercare facilities are on lockdown, local government workforces are sharply reduced, and hospitals are under duress, organizations across the country are working furiously to fill in the gaps for essential, even lifesaving, supplies and services.

This crisis is bringing into sharp focus how much we depend on one another to act for a greater common good. Even as we practice social distancing, we must come together to work through this crisis.

In that spirit, we’re asking the Sierra Club community to help support key organizations on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis—visionary and values-driven groups like:

  • Direct Relief

  • Feeding America

  • National Domestic Workers Alliance

  • No Kid Hungry

  • World Central Kitchen

You can help by making a donation to support these on-the-ground COVID-19 relief efforts now. 100% of funds donated will go directly to frontline organizations working 24/7 to support vulnerable communities during this unprecedented crisis.

These groups are working tirelessly and selflessly to support those whose lives and livelihoods are threatened by the COVID-19 crisis. Their heroic staff and volunteers are providing essential medical supplies, food relief, emergency assistance to home care workers who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 exposure, and more.

The White House and Congress are not moving fast enough to help those who need help the most. Every day without a comprehensive relief package has left workers wondering whether they’ll get a paycheck... sent parents scrambling for childcare... trapped seniors at home without a way to get groceries... and likely cost lives.

Some of us are processing feelings of fear, isolation, confusion, sadness, or anger—anger in particular at a reckless administration that continues to traffic in xenophobia and lies while putting vulnerable communities last.

Nongovernmental organizations like the ones we’re asking you to support have stepped in to help and protect our friends and neighbors, but they need our help—now

Our Sierra Club family will get through this crisis as we get through every challenge facing our planet: by listening to the facts, believing in science, and taking evidence-based action. We recognize that we have a social responsibility to be good actors in keeping others safe and supporting our communities -- and it is necessary for us to come together to work through this crisis.

We’ll also get through it by creating real community and trust, and by keeping ourselves and each other safe. Thank you so much for caring and for sharing what you can, at this uncertain yet hugely consequential moment for our country and for humankind.

Donate today to support frontline organizations, please.
