Washington, DC -- Today, Donald Trump’s nominee to serve on the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch, is set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:
“The highest court in the land should be reserved only for those who believe that a democracy works for the people -- not corporations. Unfortunately but unsurprisingly, Donald Trump’s nominee, Neil Gorsuch, does not subscribe to this belief as evidenced by his long record of anti-environment, anti-women, and anti-worker decisions.
“The Senate must reject Gorsuch’s nomination so he cannot have the chance to cement Trump’s plans to pollute our air and water, strip women and workers of their rights, or institute a Muslim ban. Anything less would be a show of support for Trump’s dangerous and discriminatory views.”
