RIVERSIDE-- Today the California Air Resources Board adopted a resolution reaffirming its commitment to the state's zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) rule.

The rule requires automakers to manufacture and sell battery-electric and other cars and light-duty trucks that have zero tailpipe emissions.

Statement from Kathryn Phillips, director of Sierra Club California:

"The auto market has changed and zero-emission vehicle technology is getting stronger by leaps and bounds. In large part to the decades of demand by Californians, we can now purchase cars that don’t pollute our air.

"Tailpipe pollution is one of the major sources of the health-threatening smog that plagues so many California cities. The Air Resources Board's re-commitment to ZEVs means the state is getting closer to a day when all Californians can breathe clean air."
