WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Earlier today, reports indicated that the Koch brothers’ planned acquisition of the State Department is well underway with Trump’s imminent replacement of Secretary of State and former ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson with Koch-backed CIA Director Mike Pompeo by the end of the year. Senator Tom Cotton is allegedly in line to replace Pompeo as the head of the CIA.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“Trump is planning on transferring control of our country’s diplomatic efforts from Exxon to the Koch Brothers, and everybody in this country should be worried. Instead of selecting a qualified candidate for Secretary of State, Trump is yet again handing out cabinet positions to appease his billionaire allies. The stakes could not be higher, but Trump is recklessly treating the United States like it is another one of his corporations that he can run into the ground.”
