Washington, DC -- Today, Donald Trump brought back one of his previous executive orders when he touted the damage inflicted through his two for one safeguard initiative and promised even further harm in 2018.

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

“The damage done by Donald Trump’s desire to cut every standard and safeguard on behalf of corporate polluters and billionaires won’t be seen in the halls of Washington, but in the communities across the country that will face polluted air and water, droughts and floods, sick families, and lost lives. While Trump pretends he’s merely shredding paper, he’s actually shaking peoples’ lives when he guts these safeguards that keep millions safe and healthy. Trump’s use of props today only reminds the world that he’s not being propped up by the American people, but rather by the corporate polluters and billionaires guiding his administration every day.
