Washington, DC -- Today, the EPA’s Inspector General’s office announced that it was expanding the scope of its review of Scott Pruitt’s travel for a third time. Pruitt was one of Donald Trump’s cabinet officials who was caught using public dollars for private air travel, though he did not face the same punishment as former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price who lost his job.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:
“Scott Pruitt’s entire tenure as EPA Administrator has been mired in scandal. Now, we’re learning that Pruitt’s habit of spending taxpayer dollars on private luxury travel may have continued months after another cabinet member was fired for the same offense. Pruitt apparently wants to be Attorney General, but he can’t even adhere to basic standards for a government official -- how can he expect to attain a position responsible for upholding the law? It’s past time for Pruitt to be fired for his corrupt actions in office.”
