WASHINGTON, D.C. - A leaked version of Donald Trump’s infrastructure document suggests that the President would sell public lands in order to fund government spending. The draft document includes this line: “Disposition of Federal Real Property: would establish through executive order the authority to allow for the disposal of Federal assets to improve the overall allocation of economic resources in infrastructure investment.”

In Response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune Released the Following Statement:

“When they’re not trying to destroy our public lands by mining, fracking, and drilling them, the Trump administration is trying to sell them off to the highest bidder. So let’s be clear: this effort to steal America's premier lands is an attack on our national pastimes and our right to enjoy the great outdoors.

“If Trump and the Republican Congress succeed in selling off our land to special interests, Americans will no longer be able to freely access their favorite places to hike, camp, fish and spend time with their families. We will do everything we can in the meantime to ensure Trump and Interior Secretary Zinke don't sell out and sell off our country's public lands.”
