Seattle, WA -- Today, Kinder Morgan announced that it will delay the expansion of its Trans Mountain pipeline for a third time. The announcement comes as the company continues to face stiff opposition to the project and has failed to obtain the necessary permits.

In response, Sierra Club Beyond Dirty Fuels DIrector Kelly Martin released the following statement:

“Kinder Morgan can continue maintaining the illusion it will construct this pipeline expansion, but the fact remains that the opposition, led by First Nations, is still growing, and every community along the route of the project will remain steadfast in opposition. With each announcement of further delays, families can breathe a bit easier knowing their homes and their communities will be protected from this disastrous project. The fight is far from over, but First Nation’s voices are being heard, and they’ll continue to fight every inch of this project until it has finally been defeated.”
