WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Supreme Court of the United States upheld Donald Trump’s travel ban targeting immigrants and refugees from Muslim majority countries.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

"It is shameful that the Supreme Court validated Donald Trump’s xenophobia and racism, but today’s ruling is not nearly the end of the fight. Trump may be trying to drag our country down a dark path, but America has been and always will be a refuge for those seeking asylum from persecution and prejudice. As a country, we are always stronger when we remain united.

“The Sierra Club continues to rise in solidarity with all people and communities threatened by Trump’s administration. Protecting our communities and our environment go hand-in-hand, and everyone who values a just and free America must resist hateful actions like this one."
