WASHINGTON, D.C.-- The Senate today introduced a bipartisan Farm Bill. In stark contrast to the version introduced in the House, the Senate version eschews toxic, anti-environmental provisions in favor of widely-supported measures focused on food and farm policy.

In response, Jordan Giaconia, Sierra Club federal policy associate, issued the following statement.

“We applaud the Senate for putting forward a largely clean Farm Bill that puts the public interest first. From promoting agricultural soil health to securing avenues for conservation, this bill presents a bipartisan, forward-looking vision for American farming and wildlands.

“We look forward to working with the Senate as this bill moves through the process and implore members to repel any attempts to weigh it down with damaging riders along the way.  The House should follow suit, abandon their toxic legislation, and produce a similar bill that puts our lands, water, wildlife, and rural communities first.”
