EPA Inspector General Report Slams Pruitt’s Spending

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, a report from the EPA’s Inspector General found that former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt did not have the justification or authority to approve the exponential increases in security and travel spending that occurred during Pruitt’s tenure.

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

"This report confirms what we all suspected: Scott Pruitt wasted millions in taxpayer dollars not for his own security, but for his own vanity. He never has and never will again deserve the trust of the public. What this report fails to mention is that Pruitt’s extravagant taxpayer-funded lifestyle was enabled by Andrew Wheeler and political appointees at EPA that still work side-by-side to push the fossil fuel industry’s agenda, clearly demonstrating that Wheeler is carrying on Pruitt’s tradition of disrespecting the public.”
