DENVER, CO - Today, Sierra Club Independent Expenditure Committee announced a major 6-figure general election campaign encompassing direct mail, digital advertising, phonebanking and organizer canvassing in support of Democratic candidate Jared Polis’s campaign to be Governor of Colorado.
This Independent Expenditure program is designed to highlight for voters Polis’ strong stance on protecting public lands and advancing policies that put Colorado on track for 100% clean energy by 2040. The campaign also emphasizes Polis’ past work on introducing bipartisan legislation to preserve outdoor spaces for rural communities, and his continuing refusal to accept money from corporate special interests. The campaign will also highlight how Polis’ opponent, Republican Walker Stapleton, is backing Donald Trump’s agenda to shrink the public lands that make Colorado great.
“Jared Polis is the Governor Colorado needs to protect our public land and public health while standing up to Donald Trump and his attacks on the environment. Polis is leading the charge to get Colorado to one-hundred-percent clean, renewable energy by 2040” said Jim Alexee, Director of the Colorado Sierra Club Chapter. “Polis will be a governor who stands with the people of Colorado and their public lands, while Walker Stapleton would stand with the polluters and their allies by putting our public lands at risk.”
