Washington, DC -- In an interview with 60 Minutes yesterday, Donald Trump once again focused on conspiracy theories and denialism when pressed about climate change and protecting communities from its effects.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“We already know who and what Donald Trump is. He’s someone who would rather peddle climate conspiracy theories than fulfill his obligations to the American people. He’s someone who would rather politicize this life-or-death crisis than do his duty as president to protect our families. He’s someone who would rather bury his head in the sand while the seas rise, forests burn, and communities flood. We know who Trump is because we have seen him gut clean air protections, shred climate safeguards, and put corporate polluter profits over science and the American people over and over again.

“We know what everyone who wants to fight back must do: vote on November 6th. We know where the allegiances of Trump and his accomplices in Congress lie. Now it is up to us to make the change that is needed.”
