WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Peter Roskam (IL-6) has lost his reelection for the House of Representatives.

Roskam was targeted by the Sierra Club Political Committee as a top “Fossil Fool” because he has made his allegiance to corporate polluters clear by voting repeatedly against climate action, clean air and water protections. Peter Roskam has an abysmal 7% environmental voting record, and he voted with the environment 3% of the time last year. Since first running for Congress, Roskam has taken $397,320 from oil and gas interests.

In Response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune Released The Following Statement

“The Sierra Club targeted Fossil Fool Peter Roskam for defeat because of his awful record of voting against the environment and with corporate polluters. We heartily congratulate Sean Casten on his victory tonight and look forward to working with him to protect clean air, clean water, our public lands and our climate.”
