WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This morning, E&E reported that disgraced former cabinet secretaries Scott Pruitt and Ryan Zinke spoke at the Dallas County Republican Party's annual Reagan Day Dinner. Former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke stated "They [democrats] are willing to ensure the forests burn down, they are willing to pollute our oceans, they are willing to do anything for power.” While at Interior, Zinke sought to sell out America’s public lands and rushed to open all waters to fossil fuel development. Former EPA administrator Scott Pruitt reaffirmed that the Trump administration’s priorities are with helping the fossil fuel industry stating "What this administration is about is saying, 'We're not going to use the power of the federal government to penalize our people.'"

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

"No matter how far Scott Pruitt and Ryan Zinke’s careers sink, lies and deceit still aren’t good colors on them after they made it the cornerstone of their cabinet careers. With a chemical fire endangering Houston communities, massive floods ravaging the midwest, a historically strong hurricane season behind us, and California still recovering from deadly wildfires, the Trump administration is continuing the destruction started by Pruitt and Zinke. The American people deserve better than an Administration predicated on rolling back clean air, water and climate protections to pad corporate polluters’ pockets.”
