Oakland, CA — La Junta Directiva del Sierra Club reeligió el domingo a Loren Blackford de Nueva York como la presidenta de la mayor organización ambiental de base de Estados Unidos.
La Junta Directiva también eligió un nuevo Comité Ejecutivo que incluye al analista de política ambiental Ramón Cruz de Puerto Rico como vicepresidente, la directora ejecutiva de Care About Climate Natalie Lucas de Missuori como secretaria, al abogado de derechos civiles David Scott de Ohio como tesorero y a la retirada recaudadora de fondos Debbie Heaton de Delaware como quinta oficial.
“Estoy honrada y agradecida por continuar mi labor junto con este notable Comité Ejecutivo y Junta Directiva, y el personal del Sierra Club y más de 3,5 millones de miembros y seguidores que trabajan incansablemente para proteger a las comunidades, los terrenos púbicos y el clima de todos”, dijo la presidenta del Sierra Club, Lauren Blackford. “No podemos desperdiciar ni un momento para atacar los retos que confronta nuestro país y nuestro planeta. Así que estoy ansiosa por continuar construyendo en base a los 127 años de historia del Sierra Club mientras progresamos en busca de un mundo más equitativo y vivible como nos dicta la ciencia y la justicia”.
El mandato del Comité Ejecutivo se extiende desde mayo de 2019 a mayo de 2020.

Sierra Club Elects New Executive Committee to Lead Nation’s Largest Grassroots Conservation Organization
Loren Blackford Re-Elected as President
Oakland, CA -- On Sunday, the Sierra Club’s Board of Directors voted to re-elect Loren Blackford of New York as President of the nation’s largest grassroots environmental organization.
The Board of Directors also elected a new Sierra Club Board Executive Committee that includes environmental policy analyst Ramon Cruz of Puerto Rico as Vice President, executive director of Care About Climate Natalie Lucas of Missouri as Secretary, civil rights attorney David Scott of Ohio as Treasurer, and retired fundraiser Debbie Heaton of Delaware as the Fifth Officer.
“I am honored and humbled to continue my work alongside this remarkable Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and the Sierra Club’s staff and more than 3.5 million members and supporters who are relentlessly working to protect our communities, our public lands and the climate,” said Sierra Club President Loren Blackford. “We do not have a moment to waste to tackle the challenges facing our country and our planet, so I am eager to continue building on the Sierra Club’s 127 year history as we seek to build a more equitable and livable world at the pace science and justice demands.”
The Sierra Club’s Executive Committee’s tenure is from May 2019 till May 2020.
