Today, E&E reported that, amid widespread public disapproval of Donald Trump’s monumental environmental policy failures, deadly rollbacks, and anti-science agenda, the Trump Administration’s panel to justify gutting climate safeguards AKA the “Presidential Committee on Climate Security” is dead until after the election.

The panel was led by William Happer, a notable climate denier and conspiracy theorist who has promoted his climate denial on a 9/11 conspiracy Youtube channel, a white nationalist podcast and an Aids denialist led conference. In March, 36 anti-science groups and Myron Ebell, who was called “one of America's most prominent climate-change skeptics” by the Financial Times and deemed “enemy #1 to the current climate change community” by Business Insider, sent a letter to Donald Trump in support of the panel.

Trump is clearly getting worried as polling shows public backlash against his continual attacks on the environment and climate. A recent ABC poll details that 62% of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of our environment.

The news of the panel’s disbanding comes just one day after Trump attempted to tout his dismal environmental record in a speech. While Trump was attempting to greenhouse gaslight the public about his anti-environmental record, Trump’s record as the worst president in history for the climate and the environment is so bad that even Fox news couldn’t air the speech without stopping to fact check Trump’s lies.
