Oakland, CA— Sierra magazine’s November/ December edition is now on newsstands and arriving at subscribers’ homes. This is a themed issue focused on gender, equity, and the environment—and this special edition was produced entirely by female writers, photographers, and illustrators. Highlights in this themed issue include:

        • Time to Fix the Population Fixation: Sierra senior story editor Wendy Becktold, who guest edited this issue, examines gender equity and the ecological crisis in this provocative essay.
        • Mandatory Maternity: Award-winning investigative journalist Summer Brennan covers the Trump administration’s attacks on access to contraception and reproductive rights.
        • Hope in the Multitudes: A roundtable conservation with public intellectuals Shahzeen Attari, Sherri Mitchel, Juliet Schor, and Katharine Wilkinson explores the intersections between capital, consumption and population.
        • Time for a Ms. Green:  Meet Sierra's new green lifestyle columnist, Jessian Choy—a writer, advocate and sustainable lifestyle guru. More on that here.
