Oakland, Calif. -- The Sierra Club announced today that it has hired Lucy Mayo to serve as Sierra Club's new Deputy Executive Director, overseeing people-related internal operations and initiatives.

Mayo has more than 20 years of experience as a leader in the non-profit, public policy, and government sectors. Previously, Lucy was Senior Vice President for Organizational Development at Dēmos, a national policy and advocacy organization working at the intersection of political, economic and racial inequality.

“I’m excited to bring Lucy on board at the Sierra Club at this important time for our movement. Lucy’s rich experience and leadership skills will help us become an even more effective organization as we confront huge challenges like the climate crisis and the future of our democracy,” said Michael Brune, Sierra Club Executive Director.

Mayo will start in early 2020, based out of New York City.
