Sierra Club Applauds Alliant Energy’s Plans for New Solar Generation

“Clean energy works for Wisconsin. It’s time to move beyond coal.”

Madison, WI -- Today, Alliant Energy announced it will add up to 1000MW of new solar generation to be built in Wisconsin by 2023.

In response, Sierra Club Wisconsin Chapter’s Elizabeth Ward released the following statement:

"One thousand megawatts of solar is no small deal. Alliant Energy’s announcement indicates that clean energy built right here in Wisconsin is a solution that makes sense for utilities and for customers, while bringing benefits to our air, water, climate and health. We’re encouraged by Alliant’s commitment to accelerating its transition to clean energy and look forward to seeing what future the company builds from its Clean Energy Blueprint. We support Alliant in its plans to invest in clean, homegrown energy, and we continue to call on the company to move quickly to retire its coal plants and speed up its transition beyond coal and fracked gas."
