WASHINGTON, D.C. - Despite bipartisan demands for Donald Trump and Senate Republicans to pass a relief package providing immediate relief for families suffering -- including the hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work according to a new analysis released today by BW Research Partnership -- action remains stalled.

The U.S. clean energy sector added just 13,556 jobs back in August according to the analysis, leaving more than 490,000 clean energy workers unemployed. This is a 14.2 percent decline over the pre-pandemic employment levels and dangerously threatens the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of families and businesses across the United States - especially in low-income communities and communities of color.

In response, Mary Anne Hitt, Senior Director of Campaigns, released the following statement:

“Donald Trump and Senate Republicans’ lack of concern for working families and their communities is absolutely stunning. Families and communities are suffering from the pandemic, from the economic crash, and from the climate crisis, yet Trump and his Congressional allies seem satisfied to continue turning their backs on those most in need. In a time of climate crisis, we need far more clean energy workers and jobs, not less. Failing to act for our clean energy workers is unconscionable. We will continue our efforts to find a resolution, as hundreds of thousands of jobs and our very planet hang in the balance.”
